VAT AND TAX NOTICE FOR EU CUSTOMERS

All orders are shipped directly from Japan.

For orders shipped to European Union countries with a product value of up to 150 EUR, VAT is generally calculated and paid during checkout. The VAT amount is shown in the order summary before payment.

For orders above 150 EUR, VAT is not collected at checkout. VAT, standard customs duties and any applicable additional fees may be charged during customs clearance or upon delivery.

Additional postal, handling, administrative or customs-related fees may apply depending on local regulations and are determined by the customs authorities, postal operator or delivery carrier.

If VAT is mistakenly charged again upon delivery even though it was already paid at checkout, please pay the charge and keep the proof of payment. Based on the provided proof, WABI-SABI STORE will refund only the duplicated VAT amount. Postal, handling, administrative, customs or other import-related fees are not refundable.

This Shipping Policy describes how orders placed through WABI-SABI STORE are processed, shipped and handled in the event of delivery problems.

1. Order Processing Time

Orders are usually prepared within 3–5 business days after payment has been received.

Processing time may be extended during peak sales periods, holidays or for products ordered specifically at the Customer's request.

2. Shipping Methods

Orders may be shipped using the following services:

AIR MAIL
Estimated delivery time: approximately 2 weeks.
Orders exceeding 2 kg may be divided into multiple parcels.

EMS
Estimated delivery time: approximately 3–7 business days to major destinations.
EMS is a priority international air service provided by Japan Post with tracking.

DHL
DHL may be used depending on the destination country, parcel type, shipping restrictions and available logistics options.

Shipments sent through Japan Post are subsequently handed over to the local postal operator in the destination country. In some cases, the parcel may need to be collected from a local post office.

Delivery times are estimates and may vary depending on the destination country, customs clearance, season and local delivery services.

3. Free Shipping

Orders with a total product value of 8,000 JPY or more qualify for free shipping where shipping is available.

Eligibility is calculated based only on the value of the products and does not include taxes, shipping charges or other fees.

The shipping method for orders qualifying for free shipping is selected automatically by WABI-SABI STORE based on the destination, weight, order value, shipping restrictions and logistical considerations. The Customer cannot select the shipping method for orders covered by free shipping.

4. Shipping Fees

For orders below 8,000 JPY, the standard shipping fee is 880 JPY.

For orders shipped to Austria, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Belgium, Portugal and Luxembourg, the shipping fee for orders below 8,000 JPY is 2,500 JPY.

Orders with a product value below 150 EUR shipped to these countries are currently shipped exclusively via DHL.

Orders with a total product value of 8,000 JPY or more qualify for free shipping where shipping is available.

5. International Shipping, VAT and Customs

All international orders are shipped directly from Japan and may be subject to VAT, customs duties, import taxes, postal fees, handling fees, administrative fees or other charges imposed by the destination country.

Unless otherwise stated, these charges are the responsibility of the Customer and may be collected by customs authorities, the local postal operator or the delivery carrier.

For orders to the European Union with a product value of up to 150 EUR, VAT is generally collected during checkout.

For orders above 150 EUR, VAT is not collected during checkout and may instead be charged together with customs duties and other applicable fees during customs clearance or upon delivery.

For orders shipped outside the European Union, VAT is generally not collected at checkout. Applicable taxes, customs duties and import-related charges are determined by the destination country.

For orders shipped to the United States, sales tax may apply at checkout depending on the state. Customs duties for orders to the United States are covered by WABI-SABI STORE unless otherwise stated.

The Customer is responsible for ensuring that the products ordered comply with the import regulations of the destination country.

6. Restricted Products and Destinations

Certain products cannot be shipped internationally due to postal, air transport, customs or destination-country restrictions.

Restricted products may include, among others, aerosols and sprays, 100% pure oils, liquids containing more than 24% alcohol, liquid perfumes, hair tonics, capsule supplements, nail polish, battery-powered devices, seeds and fresh food.

Additional country-specific restrictions may apply. For example, products containing alcohol cannot be shipped to Norway or Sweden.

If an ordered product cannot be legally or safely shipped to the Customer's destination, WABI-SABI STORE may contact the Customer to arrange a replacement, remove the affected product from the order or cancel and refund the affected product.

Shipping to some countries may also be temporarily unavailable due to sanctions, armed conflicts, postal restrictions or other logistical circumstances. Available destinations may change depending on current conditions.

7. Shipment Tracking and Collection

After the order has been shipped, the Customer receives a tracking number and is responsible for monitoring the shipment status.

WABI-SABI STORE is not responsible for missing or delayed delivery notifications from the local postal operator.

The shipment status "RETENTION" generally means that the parcel is being held at the local post office and is waiting for collection.

Customers should regularly check the tracking information provided by their local postal operator and collect parcels within the required period to prevent them from being returned to Japan.

8. Unclaimed, Undeliverable or Returned Shipments

If a parcel is returned to WABI-SABI STORE for reasons attributable to the Customer, the Customer is responsible for the costs associated with the original shipment and return of the parcel.

Reasons attributable to the Customer include, but are not limited to:
• failure to collect the parcel within the required period;
• providing an incorrect, incomplete or undeliverable address;
• providing incorrect or insufficient recipient information;
• refusing to accept the parcel;
• failing to complete required customs, postal or courier procedures in time;
• failing to respond to requests from the carrier or customs authorities necessary to complete delivery.

For parcels returned from countries outside the European Union for reasons attributable to the Customer, 30% of the total order value will be deducted from the refundable amount to cover the costs associated with shipping and return.

For parcels returned from countries within the European Union for reasons attributable to the Customer, the amount deducted from the refundable amount will be calculated as:

880 JPY + 2 JPY per gram of the parcel's shipping weight.

The recorded shipping weight of the parcel will be used for this calculation.

These rules apply even if the original order qualified for free or discounted shipping.

If reshipment is possible and the Customer wishes to have the parcel sent again, the applicable cost of the new shipment must be paid before reshipment.

If the parcel is returned for reasons not attributable to the Customer, no return or shipping-related deduction described above will be charged. Depending on the circumstances, WABI-SABI STORE may reship the order at no additional cost or issue a full refund.

If the reason for the return is unclear, WABI-SABI STORE may review the tracking history, carrier information, customs documentation, delivery attempts and relevant communication before determining responsibility for the return.

9. Failure to Pay Customs or Import Charges

Refusal or failure to pay required customs duties, VAT, import taxes or other mandatory charges may result in the parcel being returned to Japan or destroyed in accordance with local regulations.

If the parcel is returned as a result of the Customer's failure or refusal to complete the required customs procedures or pay applicable charges, the return will be treated as a return attributable to the Customer in accordance with Section 8 above.

10. Shipping Delays

International shipments may experience delays during periods of increased postal traffic, including Black Friday, Christmas, national holidays and other peak seasons.

Customs clearance, weather conditions, international transport disruptions and local postal operations may also affect delivery times.

11. Currency Information

WABI-SABI STORE uses Japanese Yen (JPY) as its base currency.

Prices displayed in other currencies are approximate and may vary depending on exchange rates.
