Description

Bring good fortune and artistry to your table with this Kutani Ware Engi Mamezara Set, featuring five small plates (mamezara) decorated with traditional auspicious motifs (吉祥柄, kisshō-gara). Beautifully presented in a wooden box, this set makes a perfect gift or an elegant addition to your home collection.

Brand & Origin
These plates are crafted in Ishikawa Prefecture, the birthplace of Kutani Ware (九谷焼). Known since the 17th century, Kutani-yaki is one of Japan’s most celebrated porcelain traditions, prized for its bold overglaze enamels, use of vivid colors, and artistic motifs.

Ceramic Type: Kutani Ware (Kutani-yaki)
Originating during the Edo period, Kutani ware gained recognition for its “Gosai” style (five colors: red, green, yellow, purple, and blue) and gold embellishments. Today, it represents a fusion of cultural heritage and fine artistry, cherished worldwide.

Decoration Style: Auspicious Motifs (吉祥柄)
Each plate in the set features a different traditional Japanese design symbolizing luck, prosperity, and longevity. Painted in rich Kutani overglaze enamel, the plates capture the essence of Japanese cultural symbolism in miniature form.
