Detailed Description:
A striking Japanese porcelain plate crafted in the Kutani-yaki tradition, featuring a vividly hand-painted phoenix (Hō-ō) motif. Rendered in rich overglaze enamels, the dynamic composition showcases Kutani’s signature use of bold colors, fine detailing, and expressive brushwork.
The phoenix, a powerful symbol of prosperity, harmony, and renewal, has long been
associated with auspicious meaning in Japanese art. Combined with the refined white
porcelain base and subtle blue rim, this piece embodies the elegance and decorative
strength for which Kutani ware is renowned.
Marked “Kutani” (九谷) on the base, this plate dates to the Shōwa to early Heisei period and was likely created as a decorative or presentation piece. It makes a beautiful statement display item for interiors inspired by Japanese aesthetics, as well as a collectible example of classic Kutani porcelain.
